The port wall on the short side is a vertical drop from the port opening to just past the thin spot, then a gradual turn toward the valve is started. Concentrate on removing material from 3 sides of the port, especially the top. Do not change the shape, just even it out and blend it to the new pocket shape. It's ok to clean up the port floor, but do not remove any material. This is tough to do when you are laying the port walls back, but as the floor is widened to match the new walls, do not lower it.
