One of the most important tools...an Optivisor magnifying lens. With this and experience, you can work to within .005" on valve jobs and such. If you can make it look good under magnification, it will look incredible with the naked eye. The Flow Bench comes in handy, also. I use stone wheels for valve jobs and a Bridgeport mill for guides and such. Serdi-type machines are not better, just faster, although they do lower the skill level required to accomplish
satisfactory work. A skilled man with a stone setup, and who owns and uses a concentricity gauge, can put out performance work that is second to none, and is not locked in to use whatever cutter angles are in the shop.
